Indeed, relying upon sheer luck is not a good business practice. Inspiring others to make the most out of their musical talents well (and staying healthy while at it) is what health and wellness guru and independent musician coach Kavit Haria is doing to prove this.
His educational background is on Medical Genetics but Kavit is also into personal development and psychology. He underwent training as an NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) practitioner.
I work with Kavit, particularly assisting him on his Internet marketing projects, which is what sparked this question:![]()
How Can Things Go Wrong in Using the Internet as a Marketing Tool and How Do You Prevent them from Happening?
Here's Kavit Haria's response:
I don't think we as businesses are currently using the internet to its maximum potential. It is a brilliant tool for reaching so many people so easily and cost-effectively. I don't think our business [coaching independent musicians] could have reached a readership of over 15,000 without spending over $1000 so easily. It certainly can't easily happen like that offline.
But of course, the internet can pose problems too. One that's visible a mile off is reputation - both for an individual and a company brand. If you don't use the internet well, if you speak before you think, if there's someone behind your marketing and people are made to think that it's you - it can all result in a lack of reputation.
So -- what's your reputation on the internet and how can you have a good one? Get some positive buzz going about you and your business. Use a tool like a blog to get some buzz going on. Web 2.0 is just now getting into gear five and it's a delicate set of tools that begin to form a community around your work.
A community of people form thoughts about your work. If you don't do it the right way, you can build a community that speaks the opposite of what you want about your work. Or the total opposite can happen and you build up so much buzz.
What is it going to be?
It's a choice that you have to make.
