Decreased Employee Productivity Due to Social Networking: How to Deal Part I

Social networking can decrease employee productivity.

A Goldman Sachs trader in the U.K. was spending four work hours a day on Facebook. When he was told to stop, he posted the warning e-mail and wrote, "It's a measure of how warped I've become that, not only am I surprisingly proud of this, but losing my job worries me far less than losing Facebook." via

"Old news!", most of you would most probably say. What with FaceBook, MySpace, Bebo, Friendster and many other gazillions of social network sites, who won't get enticed the whole day to just check the latest news about his or her friends, the most happening FaceBook apps, and whatnots.

So how do you prevent social network sites from sucking your time away at work without getting rid of the habit totally?

Social Networking and Employee ProductivityBattle Social Network Site Hopping Addiction

There's no law against signing up for all the existing social networking sites in the online world. However, jumping from Facebook, then MySpace, Flickr, then Ryze every few minutes will not only make you forget about your piles of papers to process, without you realizing it, it can be stressful as well. One way to get around this is to sign up for a social media aggregators such as Profilactic and Spokeo.
