
One of the worst enemies of someone who wants to keep being productive is the feeling of sluggishness caused by involuntary lack of sleep. There may be a dozen of reasons that you think may have caused your sleeping problem - stress, a room that's not conducive to sleeping, technology addiction, breathing problems, etc.
But there's this not so popular cause of sleeping disorder particularly on teens, that's getting more attention these days. It's called Phase-Delay Syndrome or DSPS (Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome).
A disorder in which the circadian rhythm of sleep and waking falls into a delayed but stable relationship with external time cues of day and night. - Biology Online
DSPS treatment includes therapy such as bright light therapy (resetting of a person's circadian rhythm) and chronotherapy (a behavioral technique to adjust bedtime). And for severse cases of DSPS, it's known to be easily treated with melatonin hormone.
