At The Reasoner yesterday, Bes Zain brought up a few interesting points about being professional. What makes Bes' line of thought particularly interesting is that he
believes professionalism is appropriate in every life situation, not only in the business arena. Gee, wouldn't it be nice if everyone held that belief?
The list of 5 Ways To Be Professional Anywhere is nothing more than how our parents taught us to act. No doubt it doesn't need to be repeated to any of you, but you might know someone else who can use the refresher.
- Be honest
- Do what you say
- Focus on both your and other's well being
- Be respectful
- Not getting too personal
In other words, be nice, be happy, enjoy the company of other people, and let them enjoy being with you.
What's your opinion? Is there anything on that list that would be a bad fit in any situation? Do you think being professional at all times might also be beneficial to your business?
