Sunday seems to be a good day for tips that are short and sweet. Nothing heavy with these tips; just a few things we often overlook; things that, in the long run, make for optimum productivity.

Last Friday, Mike Schaffner, Beyond Blinking Lights and Acronyms, guest posted at Jason Alba's Jibber Jobber. Mike's post, Keeping It Real in an Executive Search, pointed out a bit of reality that works well whether we're looking for an executive position, working on your network connections, or mingling at a backyard bar-b-que.
"What happened is past and there is nothing I can do about it. I can only be of assistance in your future and your dwelling on the past is not helping either of us." --Mike Schaffner
This isn't to diminish what happened in the past; this speaks more to keeping that past from happening in the future. Did you catch those words in the first paragraph? Looking, working, mingling? They're all present tense.
If the past needs to be worked out, so be it. It doesn't need to be worked out with everyone we meet. Mike's advice makes good sense; we need to live in the present and be ready to move into the future.
