The government’s official reason for the action is network efficiency and security and to relieve the strain on bandwidth. The Pentagon also cites technological limits; mission-critical areas must have the bandwidth available at all times. This at a time when the Defense Department has accelerated its YouTube campaign to reach a younger audience and to show the war efforts favorably.
