Odd as this might sound, depression and productivity have a lot in common. Well, except that there are no meds for productivity. Regardless, meds alone won’t help depression; it also needs, as does productivity, a persistent attitude of growth and perseverance.
When the future tunnels into itself and takes on a bleak hue, holding down the sofa and zoning in on daytime TV isn’t the answer. With practice and perseverance, it’s possible to shake it off a little at a time and to come back to the world of the living.
Scott Lee, Scott Free Thinking, asks if it’s possible to start by letting go of 2% of the negative emotions in Overcoming Emotional Attachment. As if in answer, Rosa Say has set Ho’omau, the Hawaiian value of perseverance, as the value for the month of May at Managing with Aloha.
Smiling helps, too. It tends to release pleasure-inducing endorphins. Those endorphins can act as confidence builders, ready to reinforce inner strength and to dispel any sapping mental obstacles.
From the strength that builds self-esteem, confidence, and resolve comes the persistence and perseverance that drive success.
The good in life will always rise above any and every negative emotion. Letting go of the negative, bit by bit, makes way for continuous improvement. Improvement makes way for optimum productivity.
