The somewhat serendipitous action of the University to refuse Snyder’s teaching certificate on the basis of a photograph is baffling. No doubt you’ve already seen the picture. There’s nothing about it that’s inherently offensive. Oh, but there’s that caption: Drunken Pirate. Well let’s damn her for that!
The University defends its position by citing what it sees as Snyder’s errors in judgment and goes so far as to accuse her of promoting underage drinking. Say again?
Had the picture been printed in an issue of Highlights for Children, the accusation might have some credence. It was posted on My Space; MySpace isn’t age specific.
Was there an incident? Were the police called? Were arrests made? Nope. Then why the hoopla? Why deny a Dean’s List student the education degree and teaching certification she earned?

Gee, Carol. . . your story would certainly make sense if you would read and report something other than an attention-starved student version of what happened.
