What do you think of the Stacy Snyder story?  Do you think there was a valid reason to single her out and refuse to give her what's rightfully hers?  In my mind, the administration at Millersville University is acting like Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi:  no certification for you! 

The somewhat serendipitous action of the University to refuse Snyder’s teaching certificate on the basis of a photograph is baffling.  No doubt you’ve already seen the picture.  There’s nothing about it that’s inherently offensive.  Oh, but there’s that caption:  Drunken Pirate.  Well let’s damn her for that! 

The University defends its position by citing what it sees as Snyder’s errors in judgment and goes so far as to accuse her of promoting underage drinking.  Say again? 

Had the picture been printed in an issue of Highlights for Children, the accusation might have some credence.  It was posted on My Space; MySpace isn’t age specific. 

Was there an incident?  Were the police called?  Were arrests made?  Nope.  Then why the hoopla?  Why deny a Dean’s List student the education degree and teaching certification she earned?
