Time is Elastic

Would you recycle more if you got extra free time for it? Would you ride your bike to work if it helped you accrue more vacation days? I would!

While searching around the Internet for websites about time, I found this terrific site about the winners of Timex’s 2004 global design competition: The Future of Time. The entry alluded to above is a conceptual timepiece that shows how much free time you’ve earned by behaving more ecologically. Other notable entries involve a watch embedded into a contact lens and one that senses your biorhythms and tells you how much time to spend on play, work and sleep.

My favorite entry is a flexible watch band by Alberto Villareal that can be pulled wider to make you feel like you’ve got more time, or squeezed smaller so you’ll feel like time is passing more quickly. That one might be the most realistic of the bunch, since the experience of time passing changes drastically depending on whether we’re hurrying or waiting.

I Would definitely do that too! not only will I get more time to spend but i'll be thinking about nature too. That site is very creative and fun.
