Back in April I posted about a study showing that happy people think more logically and therefore (okay, this is my inference) get more done. Today I read a review of a book about how being nice can help you get ahead, The Power of Nice, by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval.
Although being nice isn’t specifically on this list of tips for increasing happiness, I think “Focus beyond yourself” fits the bill. How many problems have you simply forgotten you ever had when you become involved in someone else’s project?
According to the book, “‘nice’ companies have lower employee turnover, lower recruitment costs, and higher productivity (italics mine).” Looking out for number one is last century’s strategy. I found this book on In Bubble Wrap, a fun site that gives away a new business book every day. Worth a visit.
