Over at AllBusiness.com, T.O. Whenham describes two methods of folderizing your email. This isn’t the same as actually dealing with it, but it sets you up to deal with it better.
Both systems use GTD-type, action-oriented sorting. Gina Trapani’s uses just three folders and Merlin Mann’s uses seven folders, and that’s counting trash as a folder (good idea not to forget that option!)
I have to admit that whenever I use folders for email, I rarely look in them. The only exceptions are emails that contain logins or other information that I go looking for.
I think a key to this system is to name your folders in a way that will encourage me to look in them. So, in the interest of scientific experimentation, I will try one or both (or my own version) of these techniques. I’ll let you know how it goes.
What are your favorite email folder names?

I also have a "receipt" folder which doubles for any login or passwords I want to keep in a folder.
