In her book, Making Work Work, Julie Morgenstern talks about being an entrepreneur at your job. She means that no matter what your job is, you should treat your boss like a valued customer.
What does that get you? Greater satisfaction in doing your job well, mortivation to do it more efficiently and effectively and inspiration to do it better.
If you're the boss of your own service company, you have a vested interest in improving your service and pleasing your customer. You'll be proactive instead of reactive, troubleshooting instead of complaining, and going the extra mile instead of watching the clock.
The entrepreneurial attitude is guaranteed to make you happier at work. It can be challenging to do this in an environment where there's no support for employee initiative or where processes and procedures are set in stone. But gaining practice in looking for ways to improve your job will also make it easier to find a new, better job.

It is a very helpful book for all people categories, for those who work in corporations and nonprofits, government agencies, small businesses, also for executives, assistants, educators and salespeople. No matter who you are, if you are happy at work you will be a successful person. It is a provocative and life-changing book.
