This is part two (of 2) of my interview (yesterday was part one) with Elisa Camahort, one of the cofounders of Blogher.
Elisa Camahort:
I have one client, Browster, where the CEO is absolutely consistent about addressing blog mentions of Browster, good or bad. I forward him people who complain about their experience and people who praise it.
He visits their blogs and posts respectful comments. Sometimes he corrects mis-statements about the product, other times he simply thanks them for their feedback and tells them what the company is working on.
But we work to make sure he is aware of and responsive to the blogosphere. That's probably even more important to the Browster blog strategy than the fact that we write a blog!
The bottom line is that the blogosphere represents a wonderful opportunity to businesses, not because it's hip or the thing of the moment, but because it's a rare place to connect directly to your existing or potential customers...and give them unfettered access to you!
Too may businesses focus on the rare, but possible, scariness...instead, they could focus on the possibilities! Just like today just about every business has a web site, I think just about every business will have some form of blog in the future. And just like today's web sites...some will be good; some will be groaners. Try to be good. :)
