Seeing What's There
How many passes did you count? Seven, 11, more? The people moved around a lot, so it was hard to keep count, especially when they went behind the people wearing black. Were you distracted when the gorilla walked into the middle of the scene? No? What gorilla, you say? You may want to watch the video again. This time, don’t count, just watch.

Inattentional blindness is the concept they’re illustrating here. It means that when you’re focusing on one thing, you often don’t notice other things that are blindingly obvious to others. Sometimes this can be dangerous (the driving/cell phone combo).

Other times it means that you’re fooling yourself if you think you’re really controlling all those balls in the air. Next, some tips for keeping your eye on the ball.
