It’s tough to be productive when you aren’t even at your desk to get the work done. When you’re at meetings, that is. Here are some tips for coping with too-many-meetings syndrome:
· Find out why you’re supposed to be there. Hint: if no one knows the answer, don’t go.
· Get the agenda ahead of time. Request it, if you must. Even volunteer to create one yourself.
· Arrive prepared, if you’ll be there to answer questions or provide information.
· Arrive on time. Don’t be the person who makes the meeting start late. Bring something to work on if you have to wait for others.
· Be proactive about hewing to the agenda. If the facilitator isn’t controlling the meeting, ask questions to get people back on track.
· Don’t leave without knowing what your next responsibility is. If you do, you’ve just wasted an hour.
Try these tips. Even if you aren’t in charge, there are ways you can take back control of your time.

Thanks for the tips, Claire. My favorite quotation about what you're saying is from Boyd Packer, "It takes a pretty good meeting to be better than no meeting at all."
